Snoqualmie, WA

As with many of the early towns in the Pacific Northwest, Snoqualmie was originally settled as a logging encampment.  The natural resources in the area were well known to local native populations.  The first saw mill in Snoqualmie was built in 1872 and within 5 years, 12 other mills were established along the Snoqualmie river which would supply lumber to the entire Seattle region sending millions of board feet down river.

One of the natural wonders of Washington State is Snoqualmie Falls.  A relic leftover from glacial melt off.  These falls have been a destination for nature lovers since they were discovered.  They have also been a destination for engineers.  The first hydroelectric plant was built in the 1890’s by Charles Baker and is still in use by Puget Sound Energy today.

Officially, the incorporation of the town of “Snoqualmie Falls” as the city of Snoqualmie into King County happened in 1903.  However, growth in Snoqualmie was incredibly slow until recently, around 11 people per year until 1990.  The city is currently undergoing annexation and development that is drawing in a huge influx of new residents.

Moving to Snoqualmie, Washington

Why should I move to Snoqualmie?

The City of Snoqualmie’s affordable land costs as well as huge amounts of developable property allow for not just economic growth, but also quality of life opportunities unparalleled in the Puget Sound region.

In the mid 1990’s, the city of Snoqualmie annexed 1300 acres for an incredible new master development.  Snoqualmie Ridge includes 2,250 dwellings, a business park, retail center and even a pga certified gold course.  In 2004, Snoqualmie annexed land for use in what will become the second addition to Snoqualmie Ridge with over 1,800 new homes and additional retail space.  The new growth to the area will bring new commerce, restaurants and activities to the area and you are a quick commute to the Pacific Northwest’s largest economic hubs.  Time to claim your stake!

The city of Snoqualmie is easily commutable by Eastside, Seattle, and Tacoma workers.  Interstate 90 runs right through Snoqualmie from Eastern Washington, West to Seattle.  Highway 18 takes you South through Kent and Auburn to Tacoma.  Sea-Tac airport is just a shuttle ride away.

The housing in Snoqualmie is varied from affordable and luxury, single family and condominiums, vintage and new.  Compared to the surrounding areas of Issaquah, North Bend, Bellevue, and Seattle Metropolitan market, the Snoqualmie housing market is quite affordable.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, Snoqualmie is where you want to be.  Snoqualmie Pass Ski and Recreation area is minutes away.  Snoqualmie’s incredible trail systems, including the world famous Pacific Crest Trail which leads from Canada to Mexico, criss cross the area.  Mount Si and Little Si are great day hikes right out your back door.  You can always count on the Snoqualmie River for native rainbows and cutthroat.  Mt. Rainier National Park is close by.  The Puget Sound is 45 minutes away and the Pacific Ocean isn’t much further.  Snoqualmie hosts several festivals, markets and fairs that go on throughout the year.  There are several golf courses including TPC Snoqualmie Ridge that are close by.  Hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, kayaking, skiing, camping, boating, dining, shopping.  The list goes on and on!
