Seattle, WA - “The Emerald City”

Seattle’s history is long and diverse.  Prior to the first European Settlers, Native American tribes called this area home.  The city itself is named after Chief Si’ahl of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.  Seattle was officially incorporated into King County in 1869.  Seattle has a rich history in the timber industry and also served as a major transportation center during the Klondike gold rush.  Post-World War II, Seattle rose to an economic boom with Boeing’s growing dominance in the commercial airliner industry.  Seattle celebrated this rise in prosperity with a bid for the Century 21 expo, the 1962 World’s Fair.  More recently, Seattle and her suburbs have become synonymous with many top players in the Tech industry.  Microsoft, Amazon, T-Mobile, AT&T, just to name a few.  Also, we can’t forget Starbucks’ influence on Seattle’s eclectic atmosphere and robust economy.  The history of Seattle, her economic success and booming real estate market play a major role in the Pacific Northwest and stability of the region.

Why should I move to Seattle?

The Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas along with the Olympic Mountains lie to the West and the Cascade Mountain Range lies to the East.  This helps to nurture a culture of outdoor adventure unique to the Pacific Northwest.  The city itself has over 5,500 acres of parklands.  Explore Seattle’s unique ferry system and dozens of islands in the San Juan Island chain. 

Hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, kayaking, skiing, camping, boating, dining, shopping.  The list truly does go on and on.  Seattle’s diverse culture, endless activities, strong economy and beautiful scenery does not disappoint! 

What about Seattle Schools and Education?

The City of Seattle has a very well educated population.  In fact, a 2008 Census Bureau survey showed that Seattle had the highest percentage of college and university graduates of any major city in the U.S.  This is in part due to the proximity of excellent Universities and Colleges such as the University of Washington. 

Seattle’s Public School System receives high marks for their educational standards and scholastic programs.  Seattle Public School is rated amongst the top in Washington State and reviews by parents and students are excellent.
